Prayer in these Last Days
1 Pet. 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.
In addressing God in prayer, consider Neh. 9:5-6 and Matt. 6:9. Prayer in praise to glorify the Lord of Lords and King of Kings begins directly with Him. He rules supreme. Satan is only a prince by permission. Consider Jesus’ prayer in John 17 and Ps. 10:3.
Rehearse your relationship with God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Consider His promises, which do not, and will not fail. We have, in Christ, a "new" unconditional covenant. We realize we have no merit of our own (Eph. 2:8,9) to call on Him for our salvation. But, as children of God, believers are fully forgiven on the basis of Christ’s merit and sacrifice for sin. "All of God and none of man."
Continue in prayer by confessing the sins of our nation and our church. Consider Rev. 2:2-5. In the midst of all evil, all evil ways, all wickedness, our God is working for good, especially in the life of every believer. Think of history and the end thereof. Our God is working both in you and in the world to bring history to an end! Yes, history has an end point! The result will be DELIVERANCE for all who believe in Christ. Count it all joy, my brethren, when you endure through trial and tribulation.
Continue with the giving of thanks, according to 1 Thess. 5:18. This is the will of God in all things. Compare with John 16: 23 and 1 John 5:13-15. Christian believer, in the midst of your concerns, understand that concern can lead to worry upon worry. When worries lead to depression, that is sin. God is in control. Take a long range view and rest in Christ, not in self.
Then, First of All (1 Tim. 2:1-6), pray for:
Our Spiritual Warfare, Matt. 6:13; Eph. 6:12-18. Hate evil and wickedness and sin, not people.
For those currently in authority-this too is the will of God (Rom. 13)
The elections next Tuesday, November 4…pray and pray and pray.
The kingdom of God and its extension throughout the world-Matt 6:10. Let the success of the Word of God be our goal. Pray that the living God may open hearts and doors of ministry.
Pray for the coming of the Lord ("Thy kingdom come, thy will be done").
And pray for the peace and restoration of Israel. Ezek 37 reminds us that the dry bones WILL be restored.
Pray for the Sick, the infirm, the handicapped and those unable to function in their bodies…Jas. 5:14-18
Finally, pray for our and your brethren, where-ever they are … There is a lot of "flesh religion".
