More on John Lawrence

John W. Lawrence attended the Bible Institute of Los Angeles (BIOLA, now BIOLA University), and received his B.A. from Washington Bible College and his Th.M. summa cum laude from Dallas Theological Seminary. He served for 13 years in pastoral ministry, first at New Orleans Bible Church which he founded, and the Open Door Bible Church in Memphis, and simultaneously taught at Mid-South Bible College in Memphis, Tenn. He then moved to Multnomah School of the Bible (now Multnomah Bible College and Biblical Seminary) as Professor of Bible and Theology in Portland, Oregon from 1973 until 1995.
He taught at Multnomah up until ten days (while suffering from melanoma cancer) before the Lord called him home on December 17, 1995. His works include: Down to Earth, the laws of the harvest (Multnomah Press, 1975), also published as Life’s Choices (Multnomah Press), and The Seven Laws of the Harvest (Kregel Publishing, 1995), The Six Trials of Jesus (Kregel Pub., 1996, my copy is from Know Your Bible Hour, 1977), The Death of Death (2004) and The Five Warnings of Hebrews (2006).

Several years ago, I had the privilege of being one of the speakers at a pastor’s conference with the late John Lawrence who was teaching at Multnomah School of the Bible, now Multnomah Bible College. While we were at the conference together, he gave me a copy of his book called Life’s Choices, published by Multnomah Press. I found John’s book to be tremendously rewarding and insightful. As a pastor, I have taught the principles of this book a number of times and have seen these principles really motivate and encourage a number of people in their walk with the Savior—not so much because of the negative connotations—but because of the positive. The seven laws as stated in the outline of this study come from John’s excellent book and this study is a summary of those principles. For a more thorough treatment of these seven laws, the reader is encouraged to get a copy of John’s book. John is now with the Lord and already reaping the blessings of a life devoted to teaching the Word of God.
